Treatment Plans

Most orthopedic disorders and injuries can be treated in several ways. Treatment can also be a combination of methods. Here are some that may be used:

  • Rest

  • Medical counseling

  • Medication

  • Keeping the body part still (immobilization)

  • Physical therapy

  • Occupational therapy

  • Rehabilitative therapy

  • Exercise

  • Changes in your activities

  • Casts and splints

  • Crutches, canes and walkers

  • Braces and orthotics

  • Procedures, such as arthroscopy

  • Surgery, such as joint replacement and transplants
