Easing Allergies

If your child has allergies, here are some tips from New York-Presbyterian Hospital to make those allergies more bearable this winter:

  • Keep your home's indoor humidity level below 35 percent to help prevent the growth of mold and dust mites.

  • Don't put rugs or carpeting in your child's room.

  • If you have a humidifier in your house, clean it daily and change the water frequently to avoid contamination by mold and bacteria.

  • Don't keep plants in your child's room, because decaying leaves and increased humidity can boost the growth of mold.

  • Keep vents and filters clean, to prevent accumulated dust from being blown into the child’s room.
